chris pirillo flees ie7
Chris Pirillo reports that he's fled IE 7 on his Vista machine. Apparently it's just too darned buggy still. He's moved to Firefox 1.5 and pleased with the speed.
Yes, Chris. I am happy :-)

Chris Pirillo, who if you say his "name at least three times in your article or on your blog [...] will appear and comment in some fashion" ^_- said "I'm running into far too many page rendering issues with the IE7 beta - coupled with the general window and tab shortcomings" and "Damn, it's faster - visibly faster."
Its like the Mozilla's Revenge or something ;)
BTW, I found out today that Firefox 1.5 is *not* going to be backported to Ubuntu 5.10 (Breezy Badger), but its easy enough to install :)
Having done that, I spent a few minutes getting my extensions in order and then I found this little 9KB jewel: Colorful Tabs. Its just so *pretty*... No more drab grey tabs for me :-) I'm guessing IE7 won't do that no matter how "fantastic" it is "when it's ready for public consumption" ;)
Also, Chris need not feel "so dirty"; its "open source", not "open sores" ;-)

He changed it to BW and people were cross. Then he offered to change it back and people rejected the proposal. So it has stuck. I hated it at first, but now I think it is better to what it used to be.

SamD: Actually, as I recall, after the complaints he tweaked it so that it wasn't quite as high contrast as it was when he first switched (it really did make a difference).

This is good to hear. Another one for the fox.
Did you see the new browser statistics from W3schools.com? Firefox went from 19.6% in October to 24% in December.
By the time Windows Vista hits the street, Firefox will be at version 2.0, and even better.

It's truly surprising that a final version of Firefox is working better for him than a beta of IE.

huh? In case you haven't noticed, IE totally sucks (security|speed|compliance). Don't use IE. Period.
My PC has been trouble free since I started using Phoenix (aka Firefox) back in 2002.
