Ooooh! This is like that Mac browser...ehm..whatchamacallit again...

Posted by: AkaXakA | November 6, 2005 10:06 AM

Damn, I like that! I think I just found a new Must Have extension.

Posted by: HardinComp | November 6, 2005 10:14 AM

Finally, the Firefox community comes up with a feature that isn't taken directly from Opera and is actually useful. It almost makes me want to use Firefox... oh, except for the fact that it's way slower than Opera in every way possible. My mistake.

Posted by: Big O | November 6, 2005 10:52 AM

If I were the creator(s) of Opera, I would be ashamed that a person like you is using it, Big O. (Not to say that there aren't Firefox users that I could say the same about...) In fact it's comments like that that stop Firefox users from switching to Opera. It puts them into a mood to defend their browser and hate yours. You'd get a lot farther by not dissing Firefox at every turn, believe me. I'll tell you what, for every comment like that I read, I'll not use Opera for a week. If that's retroactive, I figure I won't be using Opera until 2113.

I don't like the idea . . . I like as much screen real-estate as I can get :D

Posted by: thepineapplehead | November 6, 2005 11:30 AM

I've been using it for 4 weeks now and removed the regular tabs because I don't use them anymore.
I agree with the prevuois comment... but this one is to good to not use.

Ahhhhh! I just spent a few hours trying to make an extension to do the same thing :(

Posted by: MarbleheadMan | November 6, 2005 11:39 AM

So I decided to give this extension a try. First, I upgraded FF to 1.5, as I hadn't upgraded in a while. Then I go to the site and click install. A bar pops up along the top, saying software installation is disabled. I click edit options, and uncheck the "warn when software tries to install" box. But it still won't let me install it! Same warning pops up every time. I've looked through all the options trying to find a way to enable it, and I can't find anything. What am I doing wrong here?

Nice... but Ted's tab extensions are much more intuitive..

Both Tab Preview

and even better, his new Tab Exposé

Again, tabsidbar is cool.... I just hate sidebars.

You should have ticked the button that says "allow" which will add the site to your allow list.

Very cool extension. A definite must-have and maybe future feature. Too bad for the 3 key shortcut. I'll remember it after a while, but it could be reduced, I think.

This appears to be inspired by a beta version of Internet Explorer 7:

I guess not. Thanks for the info.

Cool extension. Not sure if this is something that should be included as a default feature. Probably best to leave it as an extension as this is not a feature everyone would want or use.

Besides Tab Sidebar there are a few others.

Tab Preview: http://ted.mielczarek.org/code/mozilla/tabpreview/

*weeps*

Daman, that's a fine extension. It could use a few more features inthe sidebar itself, to become a full fletched tab manager :

- context menu in the title

- add other items from the tab-contentmenu, like "close other tabs" or "bookmark this tab"

- 'collapsible' previews, to save on screenspace or hide a particular tab that you collegues/spouse isn't supposed to see :-)

- the reload and close icons are a little too noticable. I would prefer that they're slightly greyed out (w/ some kind of hover effect ?), so that the main color comes from the preview itself.

- maybe a fat arrow on the right of the preview of the currently selected tab, to make it clear which tab is currently selected

hmm its like omniweb 5 for the mac

Posted by: felz | November 7, 2005 6:49 PM

I just tested Tab Sidebar and Tab Preview and I have to say that both are quite neat; I can see myself using Tab Preview more often though (but since they don't interfere with each other's functions, its not a problem to have both installed :). I like how you can set the Tab Preview to wait a certain amount of time before opening the preview; instant open was a little annoying when you didn't want them to ;)

P.S. The people who maintain http://www.deltaxml.com/svg/svg-show-changes.html wrote back and they've got it working in FF 1.5 rc1 :) I note the animation doesn't seem to work in the third SVG image though; will that be working in 1.5's final release or is that a 2.0/3.0 thing?

"Ooooh! This is like that Mac browser...ehm..whatchamacallit again..."
It's called Omniweb - http://www.omnigroup.com/applications/omniweb/

is there a key.. or anything i push to make it work? =x

Posted by: tapezor | November 8, 2005 2:37 PM

To tapezor: Go to View > Sidebar > Tab Sidebar. Or press Ctrl+Shift+T.

Posted by: keith | November 8, 2005 5:28 PM

It's very cool. But it needs some improvements though. For example when i press Ctrl+Shift+T when the Tab Sidebate is already opened, it won't closed it or hide it. It would be nice that i would be able to hide it, because it taked to much space. But overal it's great!

OPERA SUCKS HARD! DEAL WITH IT!

Posted by: peckerhead | November 9, 2005 11:06 AM

I think this extension is fantastic, but is there any way to make it use a smoother scaling mode? The only thing keeping me from leaving it on is the ugliness of dropped pixels.

Posted by: Mark | November 12, 2005 2:08 AM

Can't get the shortcut keys to work. Any ideas?
