Absolutely. That's because it's one of the english wikipedia's featured pictures.

Very neat, but also kind of tough to watch because it's so fast! Thanks for sharing.

It's must less impressive when image.animation_mode is "none", let me assure you. :-)

Chris Dolan: set it to 'once' instead of 'none'.. gets rid of annoyances without losing functionality.

I thought the image was rather nice, but I noticed a problem with Firefox because of it. I left the page up in a background tab so that I could show my wife later, but after coming back to it eventually (30+ minutes later), the image is no longer animating. I refreshed the page, selected View Image for the right click menu, and I even closed the tab and reloaded the page in a new tab. Nothing worked. I haven't restarted Firefox yet, but this is an odd problem.

Nitin: No thanks! I like my workspace to be peaceful and flicker-free -- GIF animations off, Java off and FlashBlock on (with several great exceptions like HomestarRunner.com). If I need to see an animation, like the APOD image Asa recommended, I fire up Safari. If I miss a few User Friendly cartoons, that's a price well worth paying.

Firefox 1.5 RC 2 on Windows XP does not show the animation, all I get is a black box!

That really shows the moon's libration quite well.

Very nice. I'm an astronomy buff myself. The Mars annimation is quite nice as well, though the url escapes me. :-)
