just around the corner
Stay tuned! Firefox 1.5 is just around the corner. In addition to the releaes of the new version of the browser, we're also launching some great Spread Firefox campaigns so be sure to check that out as well.
I'm off to Korea and will probably in flight during the big launches. Maybe they've got wireless internet on Singapore Air :-) so I can join in the celebration.
reactions, thoughts, comments, etc.
Sorry you'll be missing some of the big launch stuff. Lots going on this week. Are they doing a big Thunderbird 1.5 release at the same time? (that would seem to make sense) Have a great trip!

John, it's likely that Thunderbird 1.5 will be released in December or so. [1]
David, have a look at this [2].

Asa: Singapore Airlines are rolling out wireless internet, but last I heard it was only on the Singapore-London route, so I guess it won't be on your flight.
John: Thunderbird 1.5 is on the way, but it's not going to the be same time (as far as I know) - Thunderbird 1.5 RC2 should be out shortly after Firefox 1.5, and the final release not too long after that hopefully...

Singapore Airlines is my favorite Airline.
Even in coach they have personal entertainment systems on most (maybe all) flights. That little phone in front of you serves as a game controller (SNES games), and allows you to change TV/Movie channels, or select music. Some news stuff too, IIRC CNN was available with some headlines in each category, so you might just see "Firefox" while in flight.
Makes a long flight a lot better. :-D

RC3 is still too buggy for primetime. The problems I've been experiencing are all very annoying while working with it, such as bug #314893, and a few others I haven't been able to locate on bugzilla, though I am certain they are there somewhere. I'm a little uncomfortable with the thought that we're trying to get Firefox more into the public eye with a version that still has too many new bugs (which will have loads of people jumping right off again). I'll bite the bullet as a firefox fan but a lot of people won't bother. Best of luck, though.

Another thing which may or may not be an issue is that Firefox doesn't always seem to obey the "Do this automatically" check box in the download dialog. Annoying. Maybe for 1.5.1?

What's the status on Thunderbird 1.5 and when is that due to come out?

@ Patrick Dunn...
Changes in Spread Firefox (it is down at the moment) indicate soon, and from ZDNet "Firefox 1.5 will be released sometime after 1200 PST" today. That's 2000 GMT.

It sure would be nice if the Mozilla mirrors serving up a .dmg file for OS X passed it as a "application/octet-stream" rather than "text/plain".
