yahoo webmail improvements
I've been playing with Yahoo's new outpost-based webmail application in today's Firefox 1.5 branch nightly build and so far things are looking really, really good. It's snappy. It feels like a desktop app. The tab implementation is pretty slick, and so is the new folder implementation I think I'm ready to move back to Yahoo! for my webmail. This is really nice stuff. Congratulations to all the people working on this.
reactions, thoughts, comments, etc.
From the screenshots I've seen it looks really good. Unfortunately the beta is only open to U.S. users... :(

How does one get to the beta?

I logged into my yahoo mail account and then clicked "What's New" then there was a "join the beta test" link. Then they're supposed to contact me.

Those screenshots do look pretty slick. I can't wait until the beta is more publicly available; it might just get me to cancel that eventual plan of moving away from Yahoo Mail!

Yahoo abuses human rights in China; because of its policies some poor schmuck will probably get executed for 'dissident' behavior.
You and the Mozilla Corporation, with its newfound love of Benjamins, might be willing to overlook this, but I am not.
BOYCOTT YAHOO!

Operating in China, Yahoo and everyone else is under China law; they were directed to cooperate with the authorities in disclosing the indivdual.

As I understand it, what happened did happen in Hong Kong and Yahoo wasn't forced to obey Chinese Law. Well, show me a company that doesn't help China ... Google, Microsoft, Daimler-Chrysler, everybody ...
Back to topic: Where can I find some screenshots of the beta?

Does 1.5 resolve any of the issues with printing: http://meyerweb.com/eric/thoughts/2005/09/14/when-printing-maims/

@Jemaleddin,
Check the comments in that article. An astute reader was able to solve Eric's problem by adding {float: none;} to his print CSS.

Yeah, well, they could work on their other Yahoo mail first. You cannot compose html based email using Firefox, only with IE 5.5 and up, because it pops up some kind of toolbar.

Hmm, I might take that back. Maybe that _is_ what they are doing with this beta (but someone who has access should make sure that the html mail composition toolbar works in FF).

So, will we be getting a tabbed Thunderbird anytime soon? (nudge, nudge)

Have you seen this extension?
http://firefox.viamatic.com/
(comes either as a seperate extension or as a greasemonkey script)
it basicly adds ajax wizardy to the current webmail interface - I use it alot.

from the screen shots, it seems like they still have no interface to select encoding, and no interface to set directionality. not everyone use the latin charset, or even write from left to right!
