Garret, over at linuxart.com, has some very nice CSS stylin'. I've been pursuing something similar here with the mouseover effect for links within a post but his goes even further and styles up the whole post really nice.

Wow, I didn't know CSS could do that...
That looks great, wonder if it works in IE :)
all versions of IE only supports hover pseudo-element on links
It must just be me that doesn't like this sort of thing - it's a very jarring change when one hovers over the text.
While I could understand Asa's justification for the style of this blog:
http://www.mozillazine.org/weblogs/mt/mt-comments.cgi?entry_id=3259
I simply cannot see any justification for this linuxart one. It's pretty but extremely unsubtle.
I'm currently at a computer that has no browser to support what I think you guys are talking about... but, I had discussed this very topic over at Simiandesign.com: Blog-Fu. Through the discussion, a CSS and Javascript method came up that is supported by IE too.
OK, I must be missing something -- I've got the lastest Firebird, and all that happens is that an individual link turns from blue/no underline to red/underline when you mouse over it. Surely, that can't be what you're all talking about...
its not. the whole post gets a nice new background. and i very much like this effect.
Strange; it works perfectly well on the older Moz I have at work. I'll have to give it another look when I get home tonight...
