my oscon keynote

My OSCON keynote went OK I think. It was really hard to judge because the audience (I was told it was 2,000 people) was very dark and there were bright lights shining in my eyes. All I really had to go on was noises they made which all seemed pretty positive and light-hearted.

Nat gave me a great introduction (thanks, Nat!) and I didn't get pelted with rotten fruit and there was friendly applause during my taking and leaving the stage. Much better than I anticipated.

The best thing about this was that I got to meet a bunch of amazing people and will be working on some new relationships that I hope will be good for Linux, good for me, and good for the Mozilla applications.

If I was there, I would have definately heckeled you. You'd know I was born in Brooklyn NY!

Congrats... are you posting (or emailing) slides? Love to take a gander.

Glad to hear that the trolls didn't raise a fuss. Party on.

The relationships you were mentioning sound interesting. Please elaborate!

You never mentioned any other OS's in the past few days, as a matter of fact that's all you pretty much been talking about. What is going down with you, mozilla and linux? explain please.

Mozilla Linux, with tabbed start menu

"Mozilla Linux, with tabbed start menu"

Mozilla Corp & Google Corp have more money than Microsoft.

If they can't make Asa's ideal OS, then they are a truly sad bunch of individuals. Google has a good portion of ex-Microsoft dev's as it is right now.

"Mozilla Corp & Google Corp have more money than Microsoft."

Rubbish, Microsoft's turnover is far in excess of Google's.

Beer,

I'm sitting here running through all the ways you can possibly quantify liquid assets, and god knows there are a ton of them. But I can't think of a single one where any software company has more cash than MS. If you took Sun and combined them with someone else maybe. But Google? Whatever they make they're plowing back into their dev efforts. Plus why the heck would Google want to get bogged down in the quagmire that is operating systems? They're on the verge of possibly making local OS's obselete if you believe their fan boys. (Which I don't really, but they're still making a ton more money killing MS in internet search than they ever will in funding an OS.)

That wasn't polite applause, they were happy you left. ;)

Yea, Asa- mp3 please? Or at least your notes from the keynote?

As far as a 'Mozilla Linux', I suggested this a few posts ago (http://weblogs.mozillazine.org/asa/archives/008640.html).
