We've got a great new tool coming online to help us distribute some of our Mozilla/Firefox/Thunderbird functional testing load. It's called Litmus and we'd like to get more people using it but right now it's just plain ugly (completely my fault for not having time to pretty it up.)
You can take a look at the still experimental tool by visiting Litmus. You'll want to enter your system information, pick one of the two groups of tests (right now it's smoketests and basic functional tests) and then pick a sub-group and hit submit.
All of these pages could use the loving hand of a good designer and I'm just far too busy right now to tackle this work. If any of you are interested in helping out here, please let me know with an email - asa@mozilla.org

Posted by: Ben Basson on July 26, 2005 05:21 PMyeah, it working really well ...
I've test tabbed browsing with a trunck build firefox ...
Some test description are broken since they refers to old-style option dialog
Sorry, I don't have the time to whip up some CSS, but I did run some of the tests. It appears that some of test case descriptions contain embedded HTML, but this is being escaped before being output, so the text ends up looking garbled. For instance, take a look at the JavaScript Console basic functionality tests.
Posted by: Andrew Smith on July 27, 2005 02:14 AMThanks for the comments folks. As for the testcases themselves, Tracy Walker has spent the better part of the past week cleaning them up, and I am currently working to import the new testcases into Litmus. The new tests should be much more clear and up to date, but if you notice problems then you should mark the test as "unclear/broken" and include a description of the issue in the "notes" box. This will help us find the testcases that need attention and improve them.
Ben: The Platform, Branch, and Build ID are already being auto-detected. Let me know it this didn't work for you and I'll see what I can do. The OS isn't detected right now, but that could change in the future.

Posted by: Zach Lipton on July 27, 2005 10:22 AMLitmus looks pretty useful. I'm curious though, who are the people working on it? Where is it in cvs?
Posted by: Daniel Brooks on July 28, 2005 05:17 AMHey Daniel -- right now, it's really just me that's working on Litmus. That's going to change soon though. As soon as a few more things are complete, you'll be able to find it in mozilla/webtools/litmus in cvs.

Posted by: Zach Lipton on July 28, 2005 03:48 PMUnder the Basic Navigation/Menu Bar section, it looks like someone forgot a ; after each   in the file listing (this is just the 1st test), so it is coming up with a garbled line.
Posted by: Frank on July 28, 2005 04:12 PMAsa,
I reworked the html so it would validate and added some simple style-rules, no additional images, just a little color.
What do you think? I wanted some feedback before I went any further. Shoot me an email.
