Thanks to Adaxl for the heads-up. Heise.de has published its May browser statistics. Gecko, driven by the successes of the Firefox web browser continues to occupy the lead spot at 49.2%.
In the last year, Gecko has reversed spots with Microsoft's technology which has dropped to 32.6%. Opera has lost 2.2 points, from a high at almost 10% down to 7.2% in that same timeframe but still holds on to third spot. Apple and KDE have remained under 3% each during the last year with Apple rising slightly and KDE dropping.
Firefox (and Gecko) seem to be doing quite well in Germany with over 20% of the broader market there and up to nearly 50% at popular technology sites like Heise.de. Congratulations and thanks to the German localization team and all those responsible for helping Firefox make such a strong move in Germany over the last year.

German Firefox Localizer
Yah but that is in different countries. How about in the US?
Posted by: Alex on June 13, 2005 08:22 AMYes, Abdulkadir, you rock! It's just that now, it's public :-)
Posted by: Tristan on June 13, 2005 09:20 AMGecko browsers have also crossed 30% in the W3Schools stats for June.
I know of a non-software related web site that only gets 4% Gecko hits. It's a web site about suping up cars. If I remember correctly it gets 4 million hits a year, so while these stats are nice, I don't believe they represent the general public.
"I don't believe they represent the general public"
Nobody does.
Posted by: David Naylor on June 13, 2005 12:08 PMNot only technical sites have a high amount of Gecko users (hopefully the stats get displayed right.

Greetings from Germany my friends. Its not all over true, what youre telling here! As you can see, Im not into the "german" side of Mozilla. Im here! As I always was. Im into Firefox since early 0.7, and always ONLY over the REAL Mozilla Pages. And that does not only count only for me. Its for many of my friends, too.
But somehow... Youre always talking about these Statistics here... They are simply not true. How could they be? There is always a true speaking of Statistics here in Germany. It says
"Dont believe a Statistic, which you not faked by yourself!"
The webs not splitted into countries. Its only the ending, that changes (.com .de .org .at .it That does not matter, as long, as I can read it!). The most people here at ages from 16-30, who truly are most "infekted" by the Firefox Virus, speak a well portion of english. Most of them enough, to be able to read english sites.
For me, the best sites are english. Like all Mozilla Pages, or ign.com (For your gaming heart) for example. And so, my "german" usage of Firefox always counts for their statistic! And for sure, Im not the only one!! But. I think, that this mostly counts only for english sites. German sites surely are only watched by germans most of the time, because nobody else speaks german.
Hello,

Posted by: Daniel Schröter on June 13, 2005 10:40 PMLooking at your Statistics, Daniel, I must quite say they are not acurate.
As of now there is a share of 69% for IE and 30,5 % for Gecko. That's unfortunate since I prefer - and use - Firefox, but we have to stick to the truth: Germany has not been taken back ;-) - So far...
Posted by: Alexander Kober on June 14, 2005 02:29 AMVery interesting. FF is decreasing and IE5 increasing more and more...
Posted by: Daniel Schröter on June 14, 2005 04:22 AM"Dont believe a Statistic, which you not faked by yourself!"
Haha. That's great. I think I'll start using that... ;-)
Posted by: David Naylor on June 14, 2005 05:44 AMAs I said! That speach should follow after every Statistic! And the bad thing about that is, that most statistics really are "manipulated" some sort of! Some Informations were not shown, some rounded up, etc... etc...
