the fifty million challenge

Firefox is taking the world by storm and we're not gonna slow down 'till everyone can browse the web in comfort and style :-)

Tired of the harassment and the pain of surfing today's web with a browser built for the 1990s? Are you sick of trying to figure out all the scams and security threats? Have you decided that the web is just more trouble than it's worth? Well, join the nearly 50 million others who have decided to try a better browser.

And when you've seen how much nicer it can be, how much simpler it is to get your work done (and even have some fun,) then join us at Spread Firefox as we take back the web from the con artists and the advertising "geniuses" who think we'd rather be fighting with a web page than using it. Get involved with our latest challenge, Blazing a trail to 50,000,000.

Oh, and don't miss Blake's weblog post, either. It's a good one.

I'll start recommending Firefox again when this bug is fixed:

Bug 283730 - "Save As" dialog tries to overwrite link/shortcut (.lnk) file instead of opening the directory/folder
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=283730

ANOTHER bug in the File Save dialog
http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=228991

That's also when I'll upgrade all my family's installs, and all of my clients' installs of it.

50 million download doesn't mean 50 million users. Lot of people download Firefox multiple/several times. I myself downloaded it more than 10 times after 1.0.3 came.

I would like to see zipfiles introduced again in the official releases. Prior to 1.0.2, there was allways a zipfile included in the FTP win32 release directory. Some company firewalls do not allow .exe file downloads...

Blah blah blah

When will people stop pointing this out? It's not as if anyone has seriously claimed that the 50 million downloads = 50 million users. (Although, considering that some do multiple installs from one download, it's far from impossible.) Just relax man.
