Firefox just past the forty-five million downloads mark and this awesome counter at Infocraft, based on our new counter feed, spells it out :-)
Posted by asa at April 14, 2005 05:21 PMUsed that PHP mirror and .js file, had it running in seconds!
Awesome!
Posted by: Jay MacLean on April 14, 2005 06:47 PMlooks great but how hard is it to fake this number?
i mean flooding mozilla.org with download-requests for the ff-build?
would that work or is there a logic preventing this?
ps: what exactly is this counter counting?
requests, partial or just complete downloads?
We should put a mirror on mozilla.org of the feed. (We could probably cloak the content as it is on the same server (or do something similar).) That way we would add the counter to mozilla.org/products/firefox...

Complete downloads.
Posted by: Lonyl on April 15, 2005 02:58 AMThe actual number probably isn't that high because of people who have downloaded it on the same computer multiple times, like myself.
Posted by: eddie on April 15, 2005 10:30 PMeddie: thats true but it is countered by the fact that many people usually have a copy of the latest firefox downlaoded and just install it on their friends and family's computer. Also for many they are acquiring the install from different source, such as from distro, opencd etc.
