100m scopes!

According to Lucy Sherriff, over at The Register, we should be seeing tests for some pretty large optical telescopes in the not too distant future. I can't wait for OWL. 100 meters. Wow.

Man, that OWL would sure be something else. I spent some time up at Kitt Peak, AZ as a visiting astronomer and saw their 6-8m scopes and, boy, are they impressive. I'm still waiting for someone to stop wasting time with these ground-based scopes and finally deploy some space-based interferrometric bad boys -- these could produce effective mirrors miles in diameter. Could practically see what ET's having for lunch with one of these!

Hope all is well. ~ Kevin
