what do you all think of yahoo 360?

After about 30 minutes playing around I don't have anything definite to say about Yahoo 360, but they do have some of the nice cliche pastel boxes with rounded corners. I'm happy with my MT blog so I won't be moving there any time soon. I also noticed some bug with trunk Firefox in their rich text area thing.

It's decent looking but there's nothing shockingly cool about it.

I tried it out. It's interesting, but not revolutionary by any means. I'll stick with WordPress.

Argh - I just made a blog at blogthing.com.

I guess that's how things work.

Is this a new blog software thingy? What's the URL to it?

I guess you were invited to join it already? I signed up for the beta list... I think you're the only one that can talk about it Asa. The only thing I can see is the preview screenshot...

The richedit box is probably bug 284245. Can't confirm it though (no access).

If you've got a Yahoo ID and you think I'll recognize you, let me know and I'll invite you. I didn't realize it wasn't more available. Sorry 'bout that.

When's the "blogosphere" (gawr, I hate that term) going to reach saturation? It seems like every major (and even minor) site/company has blogging available. Besides, at this point, I don't really think there's that much that *can* be innovated along that line.

I'll probably end up registering for this deal when it goes public, though...

For the time being, I'm happy with ModBlog and a system I coded up myself.

As far as I can tell, the "cool" thing about Y!360 is that it's something my mum might use. She certainly wouldn't set up an MT or WordPress blog. It's certainly not aimed at someone like Asa, me or anyone else who posts here :)

However, my mum already has a Yahoo account and using Y!IM and Y!Photos, so it's wouldn't be that big a step for her to aggregate what Y! stuff she's currently using and start a blog too. Especially with it's privacy features. If anything, the thing I would change about Y!360 is the word "blog" to "journal" or any other word more common in the real world.

I quite like 360. It seems to be a 'personal portal', with all the bits people like to play with (blog, Flickr, IM etc) brought together in one easy-to-use place. Of course it's just what lots of people have been doing for ages but as Rob points out, it just got a whole lot easier! Kinda like Geocities, but good :).

I'm quite impressed with Yahoo! right now. Google seems to be taking a bit of a nap (with the possible exception of Maps, but as I'm in Europe that was useless to me, if interesting to look at); Yahoo search seems better than google to me and although they are not going down the 'web app' route google seems to be, what they lack in technical innovation they make up in, well, better ideas!

Tried it... Yawn

You know why they called it Yahoo 360 right? Because MS's Xbox 2 is going to be called XboX 360. Looks like '360' is going to be the new cool thing. Can't wait for Firefox 360 ;)

Seems like 180 would be a better cool thing. Who wants to come back to where they started?

Have you tried out OurMedia yet? That seems a bit more revolutionary than Y!360.

yahoo 360 - very original name!

the bbc has a dna community called 360 launched in 2001.

dna in the link is a tribute to the late Douglas Noel Adams of (radio play / books / tv series / website / movie) the hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy.

the first bbc dna community: h2g2.
