We've gotten over the hump on the Firefox 1.0.1 update and turned our attention to shipping the Thunderbird 1.0.1 update. Like with Firefox 1.0.1, this is not a feature release. It's a security and stability release.
Today we've got a set of candidate builds that are either what we hope to ship, or at least very, very close. Please help us test this new version by grabbing bits from here and let me know if you see any problems.
Posted by asa at March 9, 2005 11:34 AMDates need update in the Help->Abou Mozilla Thunderbird...also in the credits near the end there are a few dates that ned updated from 2004 to 2005.
Also, how about vertically centering the 'Subject or Sender' in the search bar?
Posted by: Kurt on March 9, 2005 12:20 PMWhat is the procedure about the localized builds this time? Will they be released simultaneosly again like with TB1.0? Please post instructions to n.p.m.l10n. Thanks.

Posted by: MMx on March 9, 2005 02:10 PMI upgraded version 0.8 (20040913) by renaming install directory and running win32 installer. All seems fine.
Copyright date is supposed to be 2004 of Aviary branch?
Good luck, but I smell dangerous loot precedent being set at mz.org thread. We need more luuuuv for Tb.

Posted by: jimich on March 10, 2005 11:19 PMany chances that preview releases will get a source tarball too in future? This would help package maintainers alot to adapt their packages accordingly.

Posted by: Greg on March 14, 2005 11:47 AMI Installed 1.0.1 on top of my 1.0 installation. First thing that i noticed what that is actually 1.0.2 and not 1.0.1? Confused.
Did a custom installation and noticed the following issues:
- A second icon was added to the quicklaunch toolbar, shouldnt it overwrite the old one? I ended up with 2 Thunderbird icons.
- The most serious issue is that i now have 2 Thunderbird entries in the add/remove programs. 1.0 and 1.0.2. This might lead to the confusion that you have 2 different Thunderbird versions installed. So you uninstall 1.0 right? After that the user will be quite surprised that there is no more Thunderbird on the harddrive.. So to get rid of the 1.0 entry i have to unisntall and then re-install 1.0.2.
- Most serious bug was that i crashed the second time i started it. I will file a bug for this. Dont know if this is due to the update, but i never had any crashes with 1.0 before.
Did a search for crash (summary) in the Thunderbird product. I got 104 bugs, 81 of them are unconfirmed (78%).
Talkback id for the above crash: TB4356374G
