Depending on how you define 'in'.
Posted by: Mark on December 11, 2004 11:43 AMWell, it's roughly a month - the mark was probably passed at some point in middle of the day, so that'd be 31.5 days. November's only got 30 days, but some months are 31.
Posted by: michaell on December 11, 2004 12:16 PM30, 31, or 31.5...the point is made.

Posted by: macem on December 11, 2004 12:54 PMCongratulations to the whole Mozilla team on 10,000,000 :-) Over 10 million people with a better internet; you should really be proud with what you've done. The long term impact on the web and the world altogether will be huge :-)

Posted by: David Naylor on December 11, 2004 02:24 PMOn the "one month" issue, take all these numbers with a grain of salt. They're all estimates and we may have hit 10,000,000 downloads three or four days ago or it may not happen for another three or four days. My estimates are just that, estimates. In "roughly" one month, we're estimating that we had "approximately" one million downloads :D

Posted by: Asa Dotzler on December 11, 2004 02:29 PMIf it helps confirm the true 10,000,000 in 30 days, there were 35,000 downloads of Portable Firefox 1.0 in the first month. It may be portable... but it's still Firefox.
Of course, there were lots of extra downloads from other non-listed 3rd-party servers and over P2P (Gnutella, Gnutella2, BitTorrent, etc) systems.

John

Posted by: David Naylor on December 11, 2004 11:29 PMIsn't it supposed to be "ten" million downloads? ;-)
Posted by: Markus Lindström on December 12, 2004 05:38 AMI can't believe people are quibbling!
10 million downloads AT ALL is a major achievement, the fact it took under 5 weeks is awesome. Here's to the next 10 million!
Posted by: Gordon on December 12, 2004 01:21 PMI'm not sure why I post this here (I've never been here before), but what do downloads tell us? For example, I've downloaded Firefox 1.0 three times (in the official statistics). One time the English version for my laptop, one time the English version for my old computer and one time the Dutch version just to see how it was translated. I actually downloaded it a fourth time to get Portable Firefox for my memory stick which is of course uncounted in the 10 million.
However, I don't even use one of them (except the memory stick one) since I browse with Opera. The same probably applies to a lot of people actually using Mozilla Seamonkey or Internet Explorer (although I could not imagine...) and just want to see what the hype is about.
Or in other words: is there an educated guess about the number of downloads which is actually been used? Is it even possible to guess?
Enough negative things said. :P Just keep the good thing going, it's nice to see what open source can produce.
