Well, it's been an exhausing couple of weeks leading up to the Firefox Preview Release, but it's finally here. Get Firefox. If you didn't already know, we're also releasing several other great products. Don't miss the new and improved Thunderbird mail client, some security fixes for the legacy Mozilla app suite, and be sure to check out the all new SpreadFirefox.com, our community-powered marketing website. There's lots new in the land of Mozilla today.
More when I wake up, hopefully :-)
Posted by asa at September 14, 2004 12:46 AMI just noticed firefox.com redirects to spreadfirefox.com
is this intentional, surely it should redirect to http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/
Just to clarify it seems like
http://firefox.com redirects to spreadfirefox.com whilst http://www.firefox.com is fine
the front page download link on mozilla.org for Firefox has localhost in the url. Think this may be the quickest way to get this fixed is to post it here!
Posted by: Aidan Thomson on September 14, 2004 02:42 AMAdditionally has the localhost in the link on th Firefox page on mozilla.org
Posted by: Aidan Thomson on September 14, 2004 02:44 AMThat is bug #259251... http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=259251
Some people just love Bugzilla. :-P
Germany's top news site, Spiegel-Online, is featuring a highly visible and very positive article on Firefox 1.0PR:
http://www.spiegel.de/netzwelt/technologie/0,1518,317950,00.html
A pitty that http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/ is still ALL ABOUT
...... Firefox 0.9 (except the download) and not about Firefox 1.0PR.
I did file a bug for it.
Posted by: Peter(6) on September 14, 2004 03:25 AMForget the above comment, it's fixed now
Posted by: Peter(6) on September 14, 2004 04:59 AMThunderbird download link is broken...the whole 0.8 release directory appears to be missing.
Posted by: Adam on September 14, 2004 06:16 AMI thought the CSS UI icon was making a come-back before 1.0?
I don't see it in 1.0PR.
Posted by: anon on September 14, 2004 09:05 AMI just installed Firefox 1.0PR, and I must say I'm pretty excited about it. The last nightly build I used was back in August, and a lot of the annoyances I had with it are gone now. I have found a small bug, but since I don't really know how to file a bug, and don't want to create a duplicate, I'm saying it here, hoping that someone can do it for me. When I start Firefox and right-click a blank part on the Bookmark Toolbar: the New Bookmark, New Folder, New Seperator menus are disabled. Now if I right-click on an item on the Bookmark Toolbar (e.g. a folder), then the menus are enabled. Now if after that I click on a blank part of the Bookmark Toolbar, the menus are no longer disabled.
Posted by: marv on September 14, 2004 11:26 AMmarv, thanks for the great bug report. tracy filed that about a week ago, I think. when I'm next in bugzilla I'll grab the number and paste it here so you can follow up if you're interested.
Posted by: Asa Dotzler on September 14, 2004 12:12 PMSure Asa, I'm always interested at looking how you guys work on the bugs, some bugs I have followed (like the crazy favicon bugs). I always have trouble using Bugzilla to find the bugs I'm looking for, either I get too many bugs, or I get zarro boogs found :D
Posted by: marv on September 14, 2004 02:14 PMAs much as I love firefox, It still bugs me to see it take so MUCH memory for it to run.

I (and I'm sure many people) would love to see this fixed at some point. :)
Just thought I'd let you know, though you prolly have already gotten many emails about it.
