We had to take one more important change into the builds last night, moving from a blacklist to a whitelist for external protocol handlers, so today's builds are the new candidate 1.0PR builds.
If all goes well with these builds, they'll become the official Firefox 1.0 Preview Release builds on Tuesday morning. Please help us test these bits and if you find any major regressions, please file bugs and nominate those as PR blockers with the bug flag "blocking-aviary1.0PR" so that the Aviary team will see.

Posted by: Sykil on September 11, 2004 10:05 PMIs it just me, or is FAYT off by default in the PR? I just recently deleted my prefs.js to start fresh and I had to manually enable it via the Accessibily menu item.
Posted by: Matt Mastracci on September 11, 2004 10:19 PMDoes anyone else have the problem (linux-gtk2, upgrading profile from 9.3) where a number of updates, such as the Quality Feeback Utility, are shown to be available, but then after choosing to upgrade, "Firefox encountered problems when updating your software, and as a result not all components could be updated." The "details" says that it, and every other upgradable package I tried, is not a valid install package. Any other similar experiences?
Posted by: Paul Ortman on September 11, 2004 10:37 PMMatt, it is not disabled.
Just type "/", then start typing your word.
Alternatively, press Ctrl + F and start typing your word.
Yes ! At least official release candidates ! Can't way until tuesday for 1.0 PR final official :)
Posted by: MozJF on September 12, 2004 12:50 AMEverything is ok for me except this bug: bug 250279 - View Source doesn't use Find Toolbar / Since Find Toolbar was implemented, Find as you type is broken in "Page Source" window.
Not a critical bug, but should be fixed asap...
Posted by: minghong on September 12, 2004 01:46 AMI don't see any default bookmarks (not in the bookmarks manager, not in the toolbar, and not on the menu), despite having a fresh profile. Is this intended?
Another problem: When I try to add a bookmark, the only place it works is the toolbar. When I choose the first or the second entry in the "Create in" dropdown (both labeled "Bookmarks"), clicking on OK doesn't seem to do anything (not even close the dialog)!
Posted by: jens.b on September 12, 2004 03:27 AMThe one feature that exists in Mozilla but not in Firefox is that little button on left of tab bar that allows one-click creation of a new tab. This is a strong usability drawback. I now have to go to File menu and select new tab. What do you think?
Posted by: Dhruba Bandopadhyay on September 12, 2004 06:48 AMThere is a problem when I click the "Homepage" button: nothing happens :-)
Tested on Linux.
Dhruba Bandopadhyay: If you want a link or bookmark to open in a new tab just middle click it. Or if you want to open a new tab to type a URL press ctrl + W or add a button to your toolbar.
Posted by: Luke Shingles on September 12, 2004 07:26 AMiTunes music store and it's itms protocol could be allowed too?
Posted by: Ernst Persson on September 12, 2004 07:28 AMThanks for the link color change, Asa! :-D
Just wondering, will there be a feature freeze or not after PR?
Posted by: Markus Lindström on September 12, 2004 08:51 AMErnst Persson, not really...
Imagine how many protocols we can have: edk, telnet, feed, irc, etc...
These protocols are not used frequently...
I think we should only put http, https, ftp and mailto to the whitelist... (i.e. the current config is right)
I have a problem with 0.10RC: in FF 0.9.3 when i type some chars the first link that contains those chars is selected (this is not FAYT: it works only for links), but 0.10RC doesn't do anything. I think that this feature was very useful, so what I can do to reenable it?
Posted by: Lino Mastrodomenico on September 12, 2004 12:34 PMLino, the link find is still there.
You might able to make it go back to normal by using about:config settings.
But the new find as you type feature includes this...
Use "/" to find in text and "'" to kind on links.
http://preferential.mozdev.org/preferences.html
Acually found a little issue, MacOS X 10.5.3.
typing in just about or microsoft loads the correct page but the location field does not get updated. Is you go back and forth through history or refreshing afterwords it does correct it.

Posted by: Edwin Roestenburg on September 13, 2004 03:01 AMThere needs to be some way to give feedback to update.mozilla.org and not jsut to the extension devopers. ieview is currently listed on update.mozilla.org ans working with Firefox versions 0.7+ - 1.0PR, but the package you get when you try to install has maxversion set to 0.9. Someone needs to fix update.mozilla.org to agree with the package.
