more on buttons

Today I've been taking a look over our button campaign stats and poking around the blogosphere looking for more sites to contact. One of the things that surprised me was how easy it is to randomly stumble into a blog that has a Firefox button or link.

While my humble blog doesn't get enough traffic to make any real dent in most blogs' stats, I've decided to post links every couple of days to some of the sites who feature Firefox buttons to see if we can send them some new readers.

As Firefox fans, you all may want to check out some of these sites. Most of them have little to do with Firefox or browsers in general but if you're looking for some new reading, you might find some interesting blogs to add to your list. Here are the first random 10 sites that have Firefox buttons:

thraxworld.com/blog,
webbedenvironments.com,
dhruba.codewordt.co.uk/blog,
jeffsolomon.com/blog,
justorb.com,
tmcdonald.com/blog,
woshrug.free.fr,
leftquark.net/blog,
testpattern.org,
chasingdaisy.typepad.com.

I'm not endorsing any of this content and I've only skimmed most of these sites briefly, but they're doing a good deed for Firefox and the Web, so give them your eyeballs for a minute or two.

Asa,

It sounds like this http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A64483-2004Aug14.html is someone who could use Firefox. Chances are she would be impressed by another "FREE" (as she put it) piece of software that "is better than the alternative." Zone Alarm would probably be enough to keep most of the spyware out, but I'm sure she would be interested in taking a look at Firefox while she's on a "take better care of the computer" kick.

Just a thought, maybe Mozilla Marketing would like to evangelize to her.

And maybe it could lead to some free press as well.

I found an interesting site that's very big on Firefox - DeviantART. dA is probably the largest community-based art/skins/literature site on the Internet, with thousands of regular users. Shortly after their recent redesign, they put up a browser compatibility page: http://about.deviantart.com/browsers/ Firefox and Mozilla get top billing over IE! :)

Not sure if anyone has suggested this before, but what would be nice is an extension for Firefox that scans the current page to see if the word "Firefox" is mentioned but no image linked to "http://mozilla.org/products/firefox/" is found. It could then display a little firefox graphic in the status bar that you could click to add it to the Button Tool webpage.

I'm not sure where to put this, but since you and Blake Ross seem to be spearheading the Firefox publicity campaign, it would be nice to see this Google page updated to mention Firefox as well.
