1,000 and counting

Just an update. You all have added over 900 new Firefox reviews already bringing the grand total up to 1,000 reviews for Firefox. At this pace, we're on track for meeting our goal of adding new 1,000 reviews as early as tomorrow! I really had no idea we'd make such awesome progress so quicky.

1000th review

You all rock! Let's take this thing to the next level!!

What's the "next level"? ;-)

Posted by: minghong on July 11, 2004 05:31 PM

minghong, the next level is 1,080 when we'll have hit our goal. Beyond that, I'd love to see Firefox take over as the most reviewed software on all of download.com but that's still a ways off and I don't think we'll get there for a while. Maybe for 1.0 RC1 :-)

I voted "Thumbs Up" to firefox...of course! I was reading some of the negatives to see what they had to say, and they are all very tainted reviews. Seems like someone might be jealous of The Mozilla Foundation, and all that it has done. Great job Firefox team! I'm sure enjoying your hard work!

Currently 1,090 votes and 393,903 downloads. Wow that's fast. I wonder just how many will be there when 1.0 comes out.

has anyone else read the neagtive comments? i understand, the non starting, mem usage, extension problems as i have had them myself. however the spyware, pop up and file deletion talk is odd. it's not something i have ever heard of. is this just FUD or are 'bad' versions of firefox being put out in the wild?

with myie2 and opera each totaling about 130 votes this project says a great deal about ff users. if alternative browser devotees can only bitch about ff rather than oraginise thier own campains it is very telling..

Now up to 1034 reviews.

Matt - the file deletion was a real issue too, now fixed (although custom installation still has issues on Win98 first edition).

It would be possible for spyware-infested builds to be put out, but that seems unlikely. There have been instances of spyware/adware XPIs for Firefox - a couple of fixes have been put in place to prevent those, which will show up in the next release. It's also possible that people have been infected by other means, and are just seeing the results in Firefox. Firefox doesn't do anything about malware that's already installed.

would have definitely participated but where to vote?

Asa,

What about the Mac OS X vote...

Sadly the vote count is a low, and you have to love the only thumb down Mac Firefox review...

Anton - Head over to http://www.download.com/Mozilla-Firefox/3000-2356-10299359.html?tag=lst-0-7

Then click on "You rate this title." You have to register to add a review.

Me, I'm waiting for next week's campaign :)

I've been holding off on submitting a review simply because I had doubts about getting fanboys to provide honest reviews. But today I realized that regardless of anyone else's motives, I could give an honest opinion. My summary: it's been a bumpy road, but finally someone has presented a browser worth the effort to switch to.
