firefox fonts?

Does anyone know what the font is that's used in the Firefox buttons? I don't see any fonts on my system that match it and I'm trying to make a Firerfox banner. Here's my first stab at the word "Firefox" which will appear in the banner.

I've hand-tooled the font but I'm not that talented and I'd rather just find the real thing.

Can't identify the font myself, but it says at the bottom of that page that buttons were contributed by Steven Garrity, Jon Hicks, and David Tenser. Email them and one of them will probably know.

When I was making the thunderbird button (thunderbird didn't have promotion button at that time, so I made my own one), I found a font that is quite similar.

Unfortunately I forgot what font it is... :-P

According to WhatTheFont ( http://www.myfonts.com/WhatTheFont/ ) these are the matches I found:

http://www.myfonts.com/fonts/linotype/itc-quay-sans/quay-sans-medium/

http://www.myfonts.com/fonts/ef/itc-quay-sans/quay-sans-ef-medium/

Probably not exactly right, but very close.

Alternatively, you could try Identifont ( http://www.identifont.com/identify.html )

Hey Asa - just ask the 'Visual Identity Team'! Its called Meta, and its now going to be used on all the branding (certainly for Firefox and Thunderbird anyway)

It would be great if the font used could be freely available (even if that doesn't mean free as in speech) so that anyone can contribute to the artwork. Just a thought...

Asa, Jon is right - it's Meta (or MetaBold, to be more specific). The Mozilla Foundation bought a license for it - though we might need to buy more licenses.

Thanks everyone (especially John and Steven). I'll check into getting a license. Or maybe I'll just wait for the pros to make more buttons, banners and whatnot ;-)

Can we have vector logos and buttons as well? Otherwise Blake's want to have localized buttons will never be accomplished.

Heh, mu guess of it being Meta was absolutely 100% correct, even tho most of the time I see that font in cyrillic part of codepage :)
