I've got a couple of questions left over from previous insallments and a one or two new ones that have popped up in the comments since last week. If you've got questions for Ask Asa, get 'em in today and I'll try to have answers posted in the next day or so.
Posted by asa at March 28, 2004 07:21 AMWhat's the status of the bugzilla component/product reorganisation? Last time I heard (a few weeks back) Hixie said it was waiting on action by you and Gerv.
Posted by: michaell on March 28, 2004 08:12 AMTake a look at this image from Spirit's pancam:

There are these white specks all over the image. What do you think they are? Dust? Snow?
Posted by: paul on March 28, 2004 09:14 AMOK - a 3in1 firefox question...
When are we likely to see 0.9? and will it support css alpha transparency? and why do the bookmark folders (on the toolbar) not open successively if you move from one to another? The menu's do this, and the bookmarks do in mozilla seamonkey :/
oh - and back to the spam situation (i tried posting this before, but it wasnt letting me)
could you hide the submit button with css, and then anyone who uses that (mainly spam) needs to be approved my an admin. The normal method for posting would be to go via the preview page, allowing immediate posting.
and will it support css alpha transparency?
If you're talking about CSS3 opacity, it is already in nightly builds and will appear in Firefox 0.9.
As for your bookmark folder question, someone has already reported it (see http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=203556).
I'm a web developer, and I often run into javascript that works in IE but not Mozilla. Its not complicated stuff, for example using document.location.href for redirecting...is stuff like this just M$ proprietary JS, or is Mozilla lagging a bit with JS compliancy?
Also, I keep hearing rumors about SVG support in the next Mozilla...is it going to be on by default, or will it require a custom compile?

Mozilla has the most compliant JS engine there is. Brendan Eich, the person who works on the Mozilla JS engine, is also the person overseeing the current and future revisions of the JS standard.

SVG support will require a custom-compile. It is nowhere near being fully standards-compliant.
Posted by: Simon Paquet on March 28, 2004 10:47 AMMozilla suite releases new versions very often, which is good for testing purposes. Will Firefox also have as many releases as Mozilla Suite? It could be confusing for end-users if there is a new version out every (2) months.
Posted by: José Jeria on March 28, 2004 12:38 PMThe biggest european computermagazine asked me for permission, to use Firefox on their CD. Should I tell them to wait for Firefox 0.9?
