Not enough Space Exploration Enthusiasts near San Mateo County, CA can make it, so this month's Meetup is cancelled. Don't despair! Your Meetup may well happen next month - be sure to spread the word!
OK. Consider this "spreading the word". Sign up. Surely I'm not the only "Space Explroation Enthusiast near San Mateo County" but apparently I'm the only one in the area signed up. The next closest is all the way over in Sacremento.

Wow. You know, the local one for me would be in the Pasadena area. Wonder who might show up at that? :)
(BTW, did you see my silly Despair humor I posted today? I sent it to Drs. Squyres and Bell and got a happy response from Squyres)

This is the first I heard about the meetup. I live in San Mateo County, just north of Half Moon Bay. I'm also the webmaster for the bay area chapter of the Mars Society and could post the Meetup on our site which might bring a few local enthusiasts out of the woodwork. OTOH, despite all the great Mars news lately, we've had very poor attendance for our almost monthly chapter meetings. The last meeting was in November and there were 4 of us present- for the whole bay area! I think the hard core members got a little burned out over the last couple of years of lean public interest in the subject. I'm hoping we get a much better turnout for our next meeting- Feb. 22 in Alameda- including some new faces. In the meantime, I'll look forward to the San Mateo meetup in March. Should be some great science returns from the rovers to talk about by then!
BTW- awesome blog. I've been hitting it at least hourly for the past few weeks.
