Wow. I just did a rough count and I think I'm up to 80,000 words blogged on the MER missions this month. That's just crazy. I should probably cut way back :-) I doubt that's gonna happen just yet, though. Here's me, back on January 4th, after the Spirit landing:
I just did a wordcount on my weekend of Spirit blogging and it comes to over 11,000 words. This was certainly a record posting weekend for me and I don't expect to repeat it any time soon. I hope that you enjoyed it.
We'll see. As long as they keep posting pretty pictures, I'm probably not going anywhere :)
Posted by asa at January 26, 2004 12:56 AMI, for one, appreciate the time you've put into your blog...its been a great first stop for all the latest news.
As a matter of fact, during the Opportunity landing I was refreshing your blog every 30 seconds or so. The RealPlayer feed of NASA TV was very spotty here in the UK, and it was hard to find any decent coverage on TV (CNN broke in for the 6 minutes of EDL, but then turned away...CCTV (for Chinese people in the UK) went a little further, but they had commentary over the mission scientists, so you couldn't hear what was going on. But you were right on point! =)
I'm excited about the Mars rovers, and I'm glad you are too!

Posted by: Jesse Ruderman on January 26, 2004 03:02 AMActually, you need 100K for NaNo, and it has to be fiction, but I'm just being pedantic :-) Thanks Asa for covering all the stuff I happen to miss on NASA TV, as well as having good links to other enthusiasts' sites (like that DIMES registration match). I hope that there will be lots of good pictures and science to come.
