There aren't quite as many extensions for Mozilla Thunderbird as there are extensions for Mozilla Firebird but I just discovered one today that I really like. If you use Firebird and you haven't tried out Quick Reply then you're missing out. Qhick Reply gives you a small text area, directly below the message you're reading, where you can write and send a quick reply without having to open a compose window. I use the three vertical pane layout in Thunderbird and I think that QR fits the best in that view. You can find more information on QR at the Quick Reply home page. Great work, Erwin and David!
Do you use any Thunderbird extensions? Which ones? What features would you like to see implemented as extensions?
Posted by asa at September 9, 2003 11:10 AMI use the offline extension on my laptop. A feature I really miss there is the ability to switch between smtp servers. I don't want to juggle multiple accounts, I just need to be able to select an smtp server based on where I am into the net. A dropdown list in the compose window would be perfect. The same dropdown list in the error dialog telling me that relaying is denied would be even better :-).
BTW. nice site layout
Posted by: jilles on September 9, 2003 11:29 AMQuick Reply is a little dangerous because it's too easy to hit the "reply" (or whatever it's called) button. The message is sent to the currently highlighted message's sender, without ANY further warning. OOPS.
I use: TagZilla
Posted by: Peter Lairo on September 9, 2003 11:53 AMNo trolling intended in any way! However I would like to say that this feature isn't quite as new as you may think it is. It is a Good Thing that Thunderbird now supports it, but it has been around in Opera7 since the beginning.
Posted by: Mark on September 9, 2003 12:40 PMI was thinking, I am subscribed on some e-mail lists. When they send something, the subject normally contains [..] Maybe an extension who automatically makes folders and message rules for these e-mail lists woule be handy.
Posted by: Martijn on September 9, 2003 01:30 PMI've been meaning to install quick reply, so I think I will now. I use the Get All (i think that's what it's called) extension that allows you to check all your accounts with one click of the get mail button. It's not that useful, since I have my accounts checked automatically, but sometimes I want to check them all before an automatic update.
Posted by: brendoman on September 9, 2003 01:53 PMI need Palm Sync!!!!
I use it constantly.
As soon as it's available. I'm off of Mozilla, using Firebird/Thunderbird.
Posted by: Robert Accettura on September 9, 2003 05:23 PMI'd like to see a ROT13 extension
Posted by: Marcel Anacker on September 10, 2003 09:35 AMQuick Reply sounds quite nice. Personally, I use Enigmail for GPG signing.
I'm also trying to port the Seamonkey Palm Sync over to Win32 Thunderbird as a stop gap measure before I sit down and see about XML based cross platform conduits.
Posted by: Conall O'Brien on September 10, 2003 09:43 AMI'd really like to see a way of quickly creating news filters from the context menu. Right click to 'Ignore this thread' for example to get a filter dialog with the appropriate values all filled in.
Thunderbird's spam filters are great but now I find myself spending a lot of time trying to cut through all the noise on NNTP...
