Shelley Powers at Burningbird has implemented something that I find very cool. I'm just now investigating TrackBack in the new MovableType blogging system that Jason put together for me but this BackTrack takes it one step further and in a direction that seems very useful. Things are getting downright conversational.

Posted by: Helmut on January 18, 2003 10:51 AMHelmut, what you need to do in order to TrackBack is:
- First, make sure you have either Movable Type 2.5 or Standalone Trackback installed. (I have MT, so I don’t know exactly how to do it w/ the Standalone.)
- Next, create a new blog entry, or edit an existing one.
- Then, go to the field labeled URLs to Ping, and type the following in:
http://www.mozillazine.org/weblogs/mt/mt-tb.cgi/[xx]
... where [xx] is the ID of Asa's post you want to TrackBack to.
- Finally, click the Save button.
There is a much easier way to do this w/ TrackBack Auto-detection, but I’m not sure if your blog is set up to do this. You can take a look at the TrackBack documentation for more info:
